Hello and Welcome

I’m Karen, a proud Victorian Yorta Yorta woman, born and raised in Melbourne. I own and have operated Karen Milward Consulting Services since 2004.

I have extensive experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities at grass roots and organisational levels and up to peak body representative level. I regularly undertake complex projects commissioned by government departments and their agencies. This involves assisting those who have lead responsibility for policy and program development and service delivery impacting on Aboriginal communities.

How I work

I work closely with clients to deliver their vision using a collaborative framework to identify and develop the best approach. I will provide solutions that suit the unique needs of your project.

Although I am based in Melbourne, my work takes me all over Australia, and I am happy to consult with you on your out-of-state project. If you’d like to find out more about my experience, please take a moment to look at my projects.

My blog is also a great resource for information about what is happening currently in Aboriginal communities.

My fees for consultancy, training and facilitation work vary according to the type of project required. If you would like more details on the process, or would like to discuss your particular project, please contact me.

Networks

I have extensive networks across Australia at all levels within government and strong connections with Indigenous communites. I also have contacts with organisations across a broad range of initiatives across Australia - especially those targeting Indigenous communites.

I have held senior policy and program management positions in Government and have been working and consulting in Aboriginal Affairs for over 20 years.
